**The phenomenon of young Burundians migrating to Tanzania in search of work: an alarming reality**
Young Burundians, in search of better economic opportunities, are increasingly turning to neighboring Tanzania. However, this legitimate desire to find employment often exposes them to inhumane treatment and serious violations of their rights.
Poignant stories emerge from the experiences of these young migrants, including that of Habimana Domatien, who testifies to his ordeal during his arrest and abusive detention in Tanzania. These painful events leave deep scars on these young individuals, plunging them into a state of trauma and distress upon their return home.
Host families in Burundi are urgently appealing to the Tanzanian authorities to put an end to the mistreatment of these deported youth. They are calling for dignified and respectful treatment for these young people in distress, stressing the importance of welcoming them with compassion and empathy, as they do when they host young Tanzanians.
NGOs report alarming figures, with around 300 young people deported in the last two months. These figures are worrying, and highlight the urgent need for concerted action to protect these vulnerable young people.
