Escalating crime in Mambasa-centre: A warning to the community

The Mambasa-Central region is currently facing an alarming rise in crime, with cases of burglaries, robberies and even murders. Residents are living in fear and tension, while civil society is calling for urgent measures to ensure the safety of the population. Local authorities have called for the collaboration of the population to identify criminals and cooperate with law enforcement. Faced with this critical situation, it is essential that everyone mobilizes to preserve peace and stability in the region.
Fatshimetrie: The rise in crime in the Mambasa-centre region

On the night of November 30 to December 1, Mambasa-centre was the scene of a series of tragedies. Two people were savagely killed with machetes, while others were seriously injured during burglaries and robberies perpetrated by armed men.

Among the victims was a phone credit reseller, living in the Putu district of Mambasa-centre. Witnesses recount with horror how these criminals robbed him of his money before taking his life in cold blood. A woman, passing by at the wrong time, was also hit by a bullet in the skull, her tragic fate sealed.

The new territorial civil society strongly condemned these odious acts and pointed out the increase in crime in Mambasa-centre. The president of this organization, Rams Malikidogo, gave an alarming assessment of the situation, stating that not only were lives lost, but residents were also victims of theft and violence.

On the same night, another event took place: three individuals, wearing uniforms similar to those of the Armed Forces of the DRC and masked, stole a taxi driver’s motorcycle in the Makoko neighborhood. In addition, five homes were burglarized in Biakato, where one of the residents was violently attacked with a machete, sustaining serious injuries.

Faced with this escalation of crime, the local population is on alert. The need for the competent authorities to intervene is imperative so that justice is done and the safety of citizens is ensured, particularly during this period of preparations for the end-of-year celebrations.

The territorial commander of the National Police has called for the collaboration of the population to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of these criminal acts. It is essential that the entire community commits to denouncing any suspicious activity and to cooperating with the police to guarantee the tranquility and security of everyone.
