Fatshimetrie, November 9, 2024 – During the recent general assembly of Congolese justice held in Kinshasa, a call was made to strengthen the synergy between justice and land use planning in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This request aims to promote harmonious and sustainable development in the country.
The Minister of State in charge of land use planning, Guy Loando, highlighted the importance of a profound reform of the judicial system in the DRC to support the national land use planning policy. He stressed that this reform was essential to meet the challenges of governance, sustainable development, and stability in the country. Since 2015, the Congolese government has been committed to an ambitious land use planning policy, supported by a law awaiting promulgation, as well as spatial planning tools integrating socio-economic, environmental and cultural dimensions, while protecting the rights of local communities and indigenous peoples.
To strengthen the links between justice and land use planning, the Minister made several recommendations. He mentioned the creation of specialized justice systems, the integration of judicial infrastructure, as well as the digitalization and sharing of data. According to him, the reform of justice represents a strategic lever for the successful implementation of the national land use planning policy, contributing to the construction of a solid rule of law and inclusive development in the DRC.
The need for strong collaboration between justice and land use planning in the DRC is now a priority to ensure sustainable and equitable development of the country. This strengthened synergy between the two key areas will be crucial to ensure effective governance, the protection of citizens’ rights, and the sustainability of land use planning projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In short, the general assembly of Congolese justice in Kinshasa highlighted the importance of close cooperation between justice and land use planning to ensure harmonious and sustainable development in the DRC.
