The General Assembly of Congolese Justice began today in Kinshasa, marking the beginning of a process aimed at treating the ills that are eating away at the country’s judicial system. Under the leadership of the supreme magistrate, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, this initiative aims to identify the problems that afflict the Congolese justice system and to propose concrete solutions for its reform.

The specialist doctor Constant Mutamba, wearing his white coat, has begun a curative treatment to eradicate the dysfunctions of this crucial sector. With the participation of 3,500 actors from the judicial system, these General Assembly promises to be a key moment in the quest for more efficient and equitable justice.

The chosen theme, “Why is Congolese justice sick?”, sums up the challenge of these meetings. It is not only a question of diagnosing the weaknesses of the judicial system, but also of defining a new judicial policy that will allow for its in-depth reform. Indeed, justice must be rendered in the name of the Congolese people, with respect for fairness and transparency.

Faced with legitimate questions about possible conflicts within the Congolese justice system, the Supreme Magistrate wanted to reassure about the smooth running of the work. He affirmed that no problem exists between him and the High Council of the Judiciary, and that the Estates General will take place in a climate of serenity conducive to constructive exchanges.

In short, these Estates General of the Congolese justice embody the hope of a significant improvement in the country’s judicial system. By identifying the ills that plague it and proposing appropriate solutions, they lay the foundations for a reform necessary to guarantee fair and effective justice at the service of all Congolese citizens.
