Israel-Hezbollah Ceasefire Deal in Sight: Details of Ongoing Negotiations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the principle of a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. While details remain to be negotiated, talks are ongoing with the Lebanese government. The deal still needs to be validated by the Israeli cabinet. The talks could result in a 60-day pause in fighting. The fighting began in response to border attacks. The goal is to reach an agreement to end hostilities and promote peaceful solutions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has just approved the principle of a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah following a security consultation with Israeli officials on Sunday evening. Although the country still has reservations about some details of the agreement, these elements are being transmitted to the Lebanese government on Monday.

However, it is important to emphasize that the agreement is not yet finalized and that various points are still under negotiation. It is essential that all issues are resolved before reaching a final agreement. In addition, the approval of this ceasefire agreement will also have to go through the Israeli cabinet, a step that has not yet been taken.

Sources involved in the negotiations seem confident about a positive outcome of the talks, although the situation remains delicate. Any mistake on either side could jeopardize the ongoing discussions.

Recently, Hezbollah has been considering a US-backed proposal for a 60-day pause in fighting, a move that could potentially serve as the basis for a lasting ceasefire.

Since the start of the fighting, Israel has launched a major offensive in Lebanon in mid-September, in response to border attacks that began on October 8 last year, when Hezbollah attacked Israeli-controlled territory in solidarity with Hamas and Palestinians in Gaza.

The Israeli operation included a ground invasion, the killing of several senior Hezbollah officials – including one of its founders, Hassan Nasrallah – and left thousands injured in an attack using explosive pagers.

The regional situation remains tense, with hopes that a ceasefire agreement can be reached to end hostilities and allow for peaceful solutions to the ongoing differences between the warring parties.
