In a society where transparency and good governance are crucial issues, it is essential to involve young people in the fight against corruption. The year 2024 has thus been designated as the “Year of integrating youth in the fight against corruption”, a commendable initiative that aims to raise awareness among younger generations about the issues of integrity and transparency in public management.
The General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) opened its doors to students from the Bolingani Technical High School as part of this initiative. More than a hundred students were welcomed by the general inspectors for an enriching exchange on the missions and values of the IGF. On the program, an immersion in the functioning of the financial brigades, the control procedures, and the importance of fighting against fraud and corruption.
The general inspector of finance stressed the need for these young people to understand the force of the law and the importance of enforcing the rules to preserve the integrity of public finances. He also stressed the central role of youth in building a better future for the country.
The director of Lycée Bolingani expressed her gratitude to the IGF for this initiative and stressed the importance of raising awareness among young people from an early age about the challenges of the fight against corruption. She also called for continued support from the Head of State to promote integrity and competence within public institutions.
The meeting ended with an exchange between the Inspector General of Finance and the students, highlighting the challenges of corruption and the importance of promoting values of integrity and respectability of public funds. The IGF is thus committed to investing in Congolese youth to promote positive change in the country’s governance.
By actively involving young people in the fight against corruption, the IGF is laying the foundations for a more just and transparent society, where integrity and good governance are fundamental values. It is essential to continue to raise awareness and train the younger generations to build a promising future for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
