A Sunday under the sign of bad weather in Egypt

A low pressure system is causing weather changes in Egypt, with drops in temperature and showers in various regions. Strong winds, maritime disturbances and precipitation are expected, especially in Greater Cairo. The feeling of cold will be reinforced by winds and sandstorms are expected in the south of the country. Significant sea ripples require caution for maritime activities.
It is with cool air and unusual climatic variations that Egypt wakes up on this Sunday morning. The temperature is dropping significantly, with a decrease of 4 to 5 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. A new meteorological situation is setting in, induced by a low pressure system that is spreading over the territory.

In a statement released on its official Facebook page, Fatshimetrie announces that Greater Cairo is currently affected by scattered showers, strong winds and disruptions in maritime navigation. Light to moderate rains are expected on the northern coasts, central Sinai, northern coasts, as well as in some areas of Greater Cairo and Upper Egypt.

The meteorological agency indicates that the expanding low pressure system, centered on the Mediterranean Sea, is causing:

1. Strong winds: All regions are impacted by strong winds, increasing the feeling of cold and causing sand and dust storms in open areas, South Sinai and southern parts of the country.

2. Maritime disturbances: Disruptions are expected in maritime navigation in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez.

3. Cloud formation and precipitation: Low and medium clouds will intensify in the northern parts of the country, accompanied by variable precipitation.

4. Rain in Greater Cairo: An evolution of precipitation is expected throughout the day in Greater Cairo.

Fatshimetrie emphasizes that strong winds will increase the feeling of cold throughout the territory, causing sand and dust storms in open areas, South Sinai and southern parts of the country.

In addition, severe maritime disturbances are announced in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez, advising against all maritime activities this Sunday and Monday, due to ripples reaching 4 to 6 meters in the Mediterranean and 3 to 4 meters in the Red Sea.
