Vital Kamerhe pledges to support Transco workers’ wage demands

At a recent meeting with the Transco union delegation, National Assembly Speaker Vital Kamerhe committed to addressing workers’ wage demands in the 2025 Finance Bill. This announcement was welcomed by the union leadership and Transco employees, who hope to see their living and working conditions improve as a result of this significant step forward. This move demonstrates recognition of the importance of social dialogue and workers’ demands for a balanced economy.
Fatshimetrie had the honor of receiving exclusively the statement of the President of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe, during his recent meeting with the trade union delegation of the Congolese Transport Company (Transco). During this crucial meeting which took place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Vital Kamerhe offered solemn assurances regarding the consideration of the salary demands of Transco workers in the framework of the 2025 Finance Bill currently under review.

The echo of this announcement quickly found positive echoes within the union leadership, in particular with the enthusiastic words of Didier Kimbumbu, President of the Transco union. He expressed his satisfaction with the commitment made by President Kamerhe: “The President granted us his firm promise to send clear instructions to the Economic and Financial Commission with a view to integrating our salary scale before the approval of the budget.”

The salary scale in question, the result of an in-depth study carried out by a commission of the Ministry of Transport, represents a central demand of Transco employees, dedicated to improving their living and working conditions.
