Impressive growth in engineering exports in Egypt: Key figures for 2024

Egyptian exports in the engineering sector recorded a significant increase of 25.6% in the first nine months of 2024, reaching $3.9 billion. Egyptian exports in the engineering sector have seen a significant increase during the period from January to September 2024. According to a report by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE), exports increased by 25.6%, reaching $3.9 billion, compared to $3.1 billion for the same period in 2023.

Focusing on the month of September 2024, the report indicates that the total value of engineering exports amounted to $446.2 million, compared to $387.7 million for the same month of the previous year. These encouraging figures highlight the growing dynamics of the engineering sector in Egypt.

Sherif al-Sayyad, Chairman of the EECE Board of Directors, said that the council aims to reach a total of $5.25 billion in engineering exports by the end of the year and about $6 billion by 2025. He also stressed the goal of an annual growth of at least 20%.

The council’s future plans aim to reach a record $145 billion in engineering exports. This would be a major contribution of the sector to the economy. Engineering exports to Europe have also increased, with countries such as the UK, Turkey, France, Germany, Georgia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Slovenia.

In addition, engineering exports to Asian countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, and Qatar, as well as to African countries such as Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria, also increased in the first nine months of 2024.

This positive trend in engineering exports in Egypt shows the vitality and growth potential of the sector. The efforts of the Egyptian Engineering Export Council to stimulate growth and achieve ambitious targets are essential to strengthen the country’s position in the international engineering market.
