In the locality of Mbanza-Ngungu, in Kongo-Central, an emergency situation recently arose, raising concern and mobilization of local authorities. Indeed, the Mbanza primary school was faced with a serious security problem, forcing more than nine hundred students to interrupt their classes. The school building was severely damaged by a violent wind accompanied by heavy rains, causing the partial collapse of its roof.
While the safety and well-being of students should be the top priority, it is imperative that immediate measures are taken to ensure a safe and suitable learning environment. The Deputy Director of the Mbanza-Ngungu 1 Educational Province, Alphonse Nsituvanga, stressed the urgency of rebuilding the school in order to avoid any prolonged interruption of students’ studies.
The Mbanza primary school, which accommodates nine classes for a total of 937 students, is a key pillar of education in this region. Its role in the community is essential, providing the children of Mbanza-Ngungu with access to education and a better future. It is therefore crucial that the relevant authorities coordinate their efforts to ensure the rapid rehabilitation of this vital school.
While waiting for the school to be fully rebuilt, temporary measures have been taken, such as installing tarpaulins in the schoolyard to ensure the continuity of classes. UNICEF provided these emergency shelters as part of its mission to support vulnerable populations in crisis situations.
Mbanza Primary School embodies the hope and future of the young generations of Mbanza-Ngungu. Its importance goes far beyond the walls and classrooms, symbolizing the determination and commitment to education for all. Solidarity and community mobilization will be essential to overcome this ordeal and ensure that students have a safe and nurturing learning environment.
In conclusion, the reconstruction of Mbanza Primary School represents a challenge but above all an opportunity to strengthen access to education and promote sustainable development in the region. Together, we can ensure that every child in Mbanza-Ngungu has the opportunity to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to society.
