Fatshimetrie: a peaceful march to celebrate the inclusion of people with disabilities
On Monday, November 18, an unusual scene took place in the streets of the city: a peaceful march orchestrated by people living with disabilities and other vulnerable people. Their goal was clear: to salute the efficiency of the general secretariat of their ministry, but also to express their gratitude to the Head of State for having instituted a law guaranteeing their protection and promotion.
To the captivating sound of the fanfare, these individuals, whether deaf-mute, blind, disabled, albinos or otherwise weakened, walked nearly 500 meters, starting from Place des Évolués to the Palais de la Nation. Carrying banners on which messages such as “Thank you President Fatshi for the General Secretariat for PVH-APV” could be read, they solemnly and collectively expressed their gratitude.
Israel Kabongo, one of the participants in this march, expressed on behalf of all their gratitude to the President of the Republic: “We come to say thank you to the President of the Republic for his concrete actions in favor of people living with disabilities and other vulnerable people”.
The presence of Nicole Ntumba, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Head of State, in charge of political, legal and diplomatic issues, highlighted the importance given by the President to the inclusion of people with disabilities. She warmly welcomed the initiative of these individuals and shared her conviction that disability should not be considered inevitable.
A moving moment marked the end of this event, when people living with disabilities presented Nicole Ntumba with a goat and a lamp. This symbolic gesture reveals their wish to see Félix Tshisekedi’s actions illuminated, for the benefit of the entire Congolese population.
This peaceful march highlighted the strength of solidarity and recognition within society. She also highlighted the importance of inclusion and respect for the rights of people with disabilities. By celebrating the government’s action in favor of these vulnerable people, she stressed the importance of building a more equitable society that respects diversity.
Ultimately, this peaceful march will remain etched in our memories as a symbol of the fight for inclusion and equal opportunities for all, regardless of their situation. It reminds us that each individual deserves to be respected and supported, and that it is together that we can build a more harmonious and united future for all.
