Fatshimetrie, the digital magazine dedicated to international news, offers an in-depth look at current issues in the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a focus on raising awareness of gender equality in Ituri communities.
Indeed, Noëlla Tabio from MONUSCO’s gender section recently launched an awareness campaign for community leaders in Bogoro, Katoni and Komanda on the importance of promoting positive masculinity to strengthen the status of women and encourage their participation in local structures. This initiative aims to combat gender-based violence and promote a more inclusive and egalitarian society.
At the same time, MONUSCO’s Deputy Head of Operations and Protection in the DRC, Vivian Van de Perre, stressed the importance of maintaining the presence of MONUSCO forces in areas under M23 control to ensure the monitoring of the ceasefire process and ongoing negotiations between stakeholders. This approach is crucial to ensure the stabilization and pacification of the region.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister of the DRC, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, called for collective action in the face of the climate emergency, stressing the need to adopt equitable and united measures to protect the environment and combat climate change.
On a more local level, UNDP provided technical and financial support for the updating of the Maniema provincial development plan for the period 2024-2028, demonstrating its commitment to decentralization and local governance.
In the provinces, in Kalemie in Tanganyika, work on the PDL 145 territories is progressing despite some difficulties related to the state of road infrastructure. UNDP Resident Representative Damien Mama stressed the importance of these projects for sustainable development and improving the living conditions of local populations.
Finally, three key dates should be noted in our calendars: World Video Game Day on November 18, International Men’s Day and World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse on November 19, as well as International Children’s Rights Day on November 20, recalling the importance of defending the rights and well-being of the youngest.
Fatshimetrie continues to decipher current events with rigor and commitment, highlighting the initiatives and issues that shape our world, in a constant concern to promote justice, equality and respect for fundamental rights.
