Major reform in sight: SNEL reinvents itself for a promising future

Fatshimétrie, the leading information portal, takes you to the heart of the event that is currently shaking the Société Nationale d’Électricité (SNEL): a major reform is in the making with the aim of redefining the internal workings of this major institution.

Under the leadership of Luc Badibanga, Chairman of the Board of Directors since last April, SNEL is preparing to make a radical change in its operations by initiating an internal staff rotation process affecting nearly 200 strategic positions. During a crucial meeting with executives in Kinshasa, the vision of modernizing and transforming SNEL’s management was clearly set out.

The ambition of this approach is twofold: to reform governance and reorient human resources management by focusing on demanding selection criteria based on competence, the ability to work in a team and integrity. This fierce desire to establish a culture of excellence and responsibility within the company resonates as a call for commitment and performance.

The reform process will be spread over a period of six months, divided into two major phases. The first consists of the appointment of 13 department heads, followed by the second phase which will involve the transfers, promotions and appointments for the 200 key positions concerned.

Each pre-selected applicant will be subject to a careful analysis of their ambitions and vision by a committee composed of members of the Board of Directors, human resources professionals, senior executives and external experts. The transparency and fairness advocated by the PCA demonstrate a desire to strengthen employee participation and to value individual professional advancements.

At the same time, this meeting made it possible to initiate a constructive dialogue within SNEL, thus removing reservations and strengthening executives’ support for this new strategic direction. This ambitious approach is proving to be a decisive turning point in the company’s history, promising a more efficient and responsible future.

Fatshimétrie will continue to closely monitor the progress of this reform within SNEL and will keep you informed of future developments. Stay connected so you don’t miss anything about this major transformation in the energy sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
