Recent developments within the National Committee of the Sports Group and Corporate Sports in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have caught the attention of Alain-Romuald Atipo, President of the Liaison Office, Central Africa Zone of the African and Amateur Workers’ Sports Organization (OSTA). Accompanied by a delegation of committee members, including President Anderson Tambwe and Vice President Chrispin Bukemayi, Atipo traveled to Kinshasa to discuss the situation with the Secretary General for Sports, Body Ilonga Bompoko.
The tension within the National Committee of the Sports Group and Corporate Sports results from a conflict between two rival factions that are vying for leadership. Faced with this crisis, it was imperative to engage in constructive dialogue to find a solution before the DRC’s planned participation in the OSTA African Games in Dakar, Senegal, from 15 to 22 December.
Alain-Romuald Atipo, in his capacity as head of the sub-region, stressed the importance of the DRC’s participation in the African Games. He stressed the need to resolve the bicephalism within the committee in order to ensure adequate representation of Congolese companies at this major sporting event.
In this perspective, a seminar on “the impact of the practice of physical and sports activities on work performance” will be organized in Kinshasa on November 20 and 21. This initiative aims to raise awareness among local companies on the importance of supporting sport and physical activity to improve work performance and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Alain-Romuald Atipo’s visit to Kinshasa and discussions with the Secretary General for Sports demonstrate OSTA’s commitment to supporting the development of sport in the DRC and encouraging the participation of local companies in international sporting events. These exchanges highlight the importance of dialogue and cooperation to overcome challenges and create opportunities in the field of sport and physical activity in Central Africa.
