Fatshimetrie recently dedicated a special broadcast to the International Savings Day, celebrated on October 31 in Bukavu, highlighting the challenges faced by microfinance institutions as well as victims of failed cooperatives and banks.
At the heart of this event, microfinance institutions continued their awareness-raising efforts by encouraging the population to save and invest responsibly. However, in the background, many victims still find themselves in limbo, desperately seeking to recover their funds lost when these failed institutions collapsed.
In the same vein, National Deputy Olive Mudekereza challenged the Central Bank of Congo on the burning issue of failed financial institutions, highlighting the urgency of finding solutions for those affected.
In addition, Henri Muzaliwa, Focal Point of APROCEC North Kivu, took stock of the savings and credit cooperatives, highlighting the challenges they face and the opportunities for strengthening to ensure the reliability and sustainability of these structures.
The closing of the second edition of the national conference on the business climate in Lubumbashi was also discussed, highlighting the economic challenges and prospects for fostering a business-friendly environment in the Haut-Katanga region.
Finally, an awareness-raising and information session for SMEs was organized in preparation for the business plan competition, demonstrating the importance of supporting and encouraging local entrepreneurship to stimulate the region’s economic development and create opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
These different topics discussed during Fatshimetrie’s Echos d’économie program highlight the importance of promoting a culture of savings, strengthening regulation and monitoring of the financial sector, and supporting local entrepreneurship to promote economic growth and sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
