Fatshimetrie, November 4, 2024 – The orphanage “Vivre pour les autres” in Kinshasa, initiated by Olivier Dotemede, recently launched a moving appeal for financial and material aid to support its activities. Welcoming children often abandoned following the death of their parents or fleeing family abuse, this establishment faces material and financial difficulties impacting its daily life.
Olivier Dotemede stressed the crucial need for sewing machines, desktop computers, beds, meals, rent and school fees to provide a dignified environment for these vulnerable children. “We are doing a lot of work to support these children with our meager means. This is why we are calling on the generosity of caring people to bring smiles back to these little abandoned children,” he said. He also pleaded for the intervention of the competent authorities in this philanthropic approach.
The company “Reading is Food for the Human Spirit” (Laesh) responded to this call by donating school books to the orphanage, with the aim of contributing to the education and well-being of underprivileged children. Christian Gombo Tomokwabini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Laesh, pledged to provide more than 2,000 books not only to “Living for Others”, but also to other institutions, such as the “Cercle des hommes de lettres de l’Université de Kinshasa (Unikin)”.
Born in January 2023, the orphanage “Living for Others” currently accommodates 25 children, mainly boys and girls aged 2 to 17. Despite a number of them attending school, four of them cannot benefit from this essential right due to financial constraints. In a spirit of solidarity, the orphanage continues to count on the generosity of goodwill to provide a safe haven and education to destitute children.
Fatshimetrie remains committed to raising awareness about the social challenges faced by these vulnerable children, and strongly encourages any form of moral, material or financial support to restore hope to these young souls in distress.
