**Evacuation of pirate markets in Lemba, Kinshasa: a decisive action for the well-being of the population**
A large-scale operation was carried out this Saturday in Lemba, a central commune of Kinshasa, aimed at evacuating the pirate sheds and markets that were cluttering up public spaces. Under the code name “coup de poing”, this initiative aims to give the inhabitants of Lemba a healthy and secure living environment. The mayor of the commune, Jean-Serge Poba, set the tone by declaring that this action was necessary to ensure order and cleanliness in the region.
The local authorities, under the leadership of the governor of the city, have embarked on a vast cleaning operation, aimed at ridding the streets, sidewalks and other public spaces of illegal installations that are detrimental to the safety and hygiene of the inhabitants. This approach is part of a broader vision of enhancing the value of Kinshasa, and aims to put an end to the anarchic occupation of public spaces by informal businesses.
The Gombele neighborhood chief, Jean-Delphin Mawete, welcomed this initiative and invited the population to become actively involved in the fight against insecurity and unsanitary conditions. Indeed, maintaining order and cleanliness in neighborhoods is everyone’s business, and everyone must contribute to preserving a healthy and safe environment for all.
The evacuation of the pirate markets in Lemba marks the beginning of a new era for the municipality, where order and security are priorities. This action demonstrates the determination of local authorities to act for the well-being of the population, by putting an end to illegal practices and promoting a more pleasant and safer urban environment for all. Let us hope that this initiative will serve as an example and encourage other neighborhoods to follow the movement to make Kinshasa a more harmonious and welcoming city for its inhabitants.
