Winners and Highlights of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA)

The latest edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) recognized many African talents for their outstanding performances in the film industry. Films and actors such as “Jagun Jagun” by Adebayo, Elsie Abang, Michell Lemuya, Zolisa Xaluva and Jackie Appiah Emery were honored. Directors such as Harry Bentil and Jahmil X.T Qubeka were also recognized. Legends of African cinema received awards of excellence, and talented artists were recognized for their contribution to the African film industry. “The Weekend” was crowned the best AMAA film, while other films were recognized in various technical categories. Among the winners, we find Adebayo and his film “Jagun Jagun” which won several awards, including the Excellence in Visual Effects and Makeup Award. Actors like Elsie Abang, Michell Lemuya, Zolisa Xaluva, and Jackie Appiah Emery were also honored for their remarkable roles in films such as “KIPKEMBOI”, “NAWI”, “The Queenstown King” and “Red Carpet”.

The film “The Weekend” won the AMAA Best Film Award, in addition to being recognised for its screenplay, cinematography and as the best Nigerian film. Other films like “Out of Bound”, “Boda Love”, “Mai Martaba” and “Queenstown King” were also recognized in various technical categories such as production, soundtrack, costume design and sound.

In addition, outstanding achievements in fields such as editing, short films, animation, music and documentary filmmaking were also celebrated at the event. Talented filmmakers from various African countries were honored for their creativity and unique artistic vision.
