Improving the business climate in the Democratic Republic of Congo: A new commitment from the provinces

Fatshimetrie October 31, 2024 – Recently, during a three-day conference at Pullman Grand Karavia in Lubumbashi, in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the country’s 26 provinces affirmed their commitment to promoting a new vision aimed at improving the business climate.

Provincial representatives agreed to strengthen this vision, each developing their own roadmap adapted to their specific realities. They also stressed the importance of collaboration between central and provincial authorities, as well as transparent dialogue between public and private companies to ensure informed decision-making.

In his closing speech, the governor of Haut-Katanga province, Jacques Kyabula Katwe, welcomed the recommendations made during these meetings. He praised the success of the event, highlighting the resolutions taken to improve the business climate in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while thanking President Félix Tshisekedi and the Prime Minister for their support in holding this second edition in Lubumbashi.

Jacques Kyabula Katwe also expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister of Planning, who initiated the conference, as well as to the team of the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments (ANAPI) who organized it. He highlighted his province’s commitment to improving the business climate, illustrated by the creation of a provincial structure similar to ANAPI, placed under his leadership to supervise investors.

This conference marks a crucial step in the efforts made by the Democratic Republic of Congo to attract national and foreign investors, and to foster an environment conducive to business and economic development.
