Fatshimetrie is proud to announce the latest developments regarding the installation of the first high-speed train line in Egypt. The consortium of companies in charge of this ambitious project has recently started laying iron rails in different sections of the 675 km route, which will include 21 key stations.
This high-speed electric train line will connect Ain Sokhna to Matrouh, passing through the new administrative capital, Cairo, the Sixth of October City, Borg El Arab, and El Alamein. This is a project of paramount importance for the transportation of passengers and goods, and will actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions, thus supporting environmental efforts.
To date, the manufacturing of 3 Velaro high-speed trains has been completed, and 2 more trains are under production, out of the 15 planned for this line. At the same time, the production of 5 Desiro regional trains has been completed, with one of the trains having already been shipped to Cairo. For example, it will now be possible to connect Cairo to Qena in just 150 minutes, Qena to Aswan in 40 minutes, and Qena to Hurghada in 30 minutes. These shorter and more efficient travel times will undoubtedly transform the transportation landscape in Egypt, providing unparalleled mobility and increased comfort to travelers.
In conclusion, the development of this high-speed electric train line in Egypt marks a significant advancement in the country’s transportation sector. The positive impact of this project on the economy, the environment and the daily lives of the inhabitants is beyond doubt, and we can only look forward to the day when these ultra-modern trains finally take flight across the magnificent lands of Egypt.
