**Fatshimétrie: The Keystone of Congolese Mediation for Sustainable Peace**
The Congolese Center for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CCPRC) recently held a conference in Kinshasa on the crucial importance of community mediation to promote peace and harmony in Congolese society. This initiative is part of a series of training courses aimed at training a new generation of mediators capable of intervening effectively in resolving conflicts on a daily basis.
According to Gabriel Kisembe, an experienced mediator, conflicts are omnipresent in all aspects of Congolese life, whether in schools, homes, businesses or markets. Faced with this reality, it is essential to have impartial and caring people capable of intervening to restore dialogue and promote reconciliation between the parties in conflict.
Romain Nkonde, one of the organizers of the event, emphasizes the importance of training a large number of community mediators, like more advanced societies in terms of conflict resolution. He highlights the need to create mediation centers in the different neighborhoods in order to make these services accessible to all and to lighten the government’s burden in terms of conflict management.
For Lutete Losamba, a mediator involved in the process, the place of women in community mediation is essential. As key players in building sustainable peace, women have a crucial role to play thanks to their communication skills and their sense of mediation.
Although community mediation is a fundamental pillar in conflict resolution, it is important to emphasize that it does not replace access to justice for situations that require it. Indeed, combining community mediation with the judicial system makes it possible to offer individuals comprehensive solutions that are adapted to their needs.
In conclusion, local mediation, embodied by the CCPRC and its partners, proves to be an essential tool for establishing a culture of dialogue and peace within Congolese society. By promoting the peaceful resolution of conflicts, it contributes to building a more harmonious and prosperous future for all citizens of the Congo.
