Fatshimetrie, October 29, 2024 edition – The Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense, Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita, recently conducted an inspection visit to the infrastructure of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) in Tanganyika province. The visit aimed to highlight vulnerable points along the lake borders and strengthen surveillance to counter illegal activities.

During his tour, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the 22nd Naval Group and the Rapid Reaction Brigade in Kalemie, the main city in Tanganyika province. Discussions focused on identifying sensitive points along the lake borders and putting in place effective strategies to strengthen surveillance.

The Commander of the 22nd Naval Group, General Luc Bakole, stressed the importance of assessing the security arrangements in place for maritime surveillance and patrol. For his part, the Commander of the Rapid Reaction Brigade, Brigadier General Fabien Dunia Kashindi, gave a detailed briefing on Operation ‘Usalama’ to ensure security and operational efficiency.

During his visit, Guy Kabombo also inspected the Marine Camp, the Operational Medical Center of the 221st Naval Base, the Kalemie International Port, as well as the P25 warship. He took the time to talk with former combatants, military wives and widows, pledging to convey their concerns to the Supreme Commander of the FARDC.

This revitalization and roaming tour of the Deputy Prime Minister of National Defense covering the provinces of Grand Katanga for over a week, demonstrates the importance given to the security and protection of the country’s borders.
