The glass was raised in Kinshasa during two major events that highlighted the recent exploits of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF). Indeed, during these two consecutive congresses, the emphasis was placed on the assessment of the actions undertaken by this institution since its revitalization, a subject that fascinated the participants.
At the first meeting, held within the National Federation of Young Protestants, the debate focused on the impact of the IGF in the fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds over the period from 2019 to 2023. Bitasimwa Bahi, Inspector General of Finance-Chief of the Brigades of the provinces and decentralized territorial entities, mandated by Jules Alingete, highlighted the achievements of the IGF, highlighting concrete actions such as the eradication of customs exemptions on petroleum products and the improvement of the State treasury.
At the second event, organized by the Rally of Leaders for Development (Ralead), Jules Alingete’s representative, Key, stressed the importance of youth in public governance. He stressed the responsibility of everyone, especially young people, to contribute to the advancement of the Democratic Republic of Congo by fighting corruption and promoting transparent and efficient management of state resources.
In a powerful speech, the speaker stressed the impossibility of being happy in an unhappy state. He called for the mobilization of all to ensure that public funds are used for the benefit of the population as a whole, and not for the personal enrichment of a few. He warned against the illusion of corruption, which undermines the development and well-being of society.
The representatives of the various organizations present praised the work of the IGF in the fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds. They expressed their support for this institution and committed to promoting good governance and integrity in the management of public affairs.
In conclusion, these events highlighted the crucial importance of the IGF in the fight against corruption in the DRC. They stressed the need for collective action and individual commitment to ensure a better future for all citizens of the country.
