Fatshimetrie, October 28, 2024 (ACP/MAP) – Diplomatic exchanges between Morocco and the United States took on a paramount importance during the recent meeting between the Moroccan Minister of National Defense Administration and a distinguished delegation from the US Congress. This meeting, at the headquarters of the Administration in Rabat, highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries, consolidated by decades of friendship and cooperation.
The strong American delegation, led by Mr. Doug Lamborn, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, praised the leadership of King Mohammed VI and the stabilizing role of the Kingdom of Morocco in the region. The members of Congress highlighted the strategic and multifaceted partnership between the United States and Morocco, as well as ongoing cooperation initiatives.
The Moroccan minister highlighted the excellent military relations between the two countries, highlighting the Roadmap for Defense Cooperation signed in 2020. This roadmap defines the areas of collaboration for the current decade. Discussions also focused on the annual military exercise “African Lion”, which this year brought together more than 7,000 military personnel from various countries.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing their willingness to further strengthen military cooperation and explore new opportunities for financial and technical collaboration. Emphasis was placed on strengthening the interoperability of the Armed Forces of the two countries, a guarantee of fruitful cooperation in the future.
This meeting therefore made it possible to strengthen ties between Morocco and the United States, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation for regional security and stability. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to peace and prosperity, in a spirit of partnership and mutual trust.
