At the heart of the fight against the rebels of the March 23 Movement (M23-RDF) in the north of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Major General Chico Tshitambwe Jérôme, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC), went to the front to provide support and encouragement to the troops. His visit to Mbwavinywa, between the territories of Lubero and Walikale, was aimed at boosting the morale of the soldiers engaged in the hunt for the rebels.
According to Reagan Kalonji, spokesman for the FARDC, General Tshitambwe reminded the officers present on the ground of the importance of their mission and encouraged them not to give up in the face of aggression from the enemies of peace. He stressed the army’s determination to defend territorial integrity and prevent any advance by the rebels towards Pinga and the village of Peti.
Faced with this imminent threat, the troops have been mobilized and the population is called upon to trust the Congolese Armed Forces to ensure their protection. General Tshitambwe insisted that the security and stability of the region are an absolute priority, and that the soldiers are ready to face any attempt at destabilization.
