In the financial and banking sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a promising partnership is emerging between RAWBANK and the Private Sector Subcontracting Regulatory Authority (ARSP). During a recent working meeting, Mustafa Rawji, CEO of RAWBANK, enthusiastically spoke of the potential of this agreement to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
The context in which this collaboration takes place is that of a strong political will to promote the emergence of a Congolese middle class, in accordance with the vision of President Félix Tshisekedi. This ambition requires adequate financial support, and this is where RAWBANK comes in with its commitment to allocate US$200 million to finance these SMEs.
The objective of the partnership between RAWBANK and ARSP is clear: to finance 20,000 SMEs in the DRC, in various sectors such as the mining industry. Mustafa Rawji underlines the importance of a proactive approach to financing SMEs, emphasizing that they represent a key link in the country’s economic value chain.
The collaboration with ARSP will allow RAWBANK to identify credible SMEs to support and ensure rigorous monitoring of the financing granted. This tripartite approach, involving ARSP, RAWBANK and the Congolese Enterprise Guarantee Fund (FOGEC), aims to ensure the success of the entrepreneurs supported.
Miguel Kashal, Director General of ARSP, welcomes this initiative which aims to support subcontractors who have won contracts with main companies. For him, it is essential to support these entrepreneurs towards success, recognizing the importance of their role in the Congolese economic fabric.
In conclusion, this collaboration between RAWBANK and ARSP represents a significant step forward in supporting SMEs in the DRC. By investing in these companies, we not only promote their growth, but also contribute to building a strong and inclusive economy, in line with the country’s development vision.
The promise of this agreement lies in its ability to transform the Congolese economic landscape by promoting the emergence of a dynamic and prosperous middle class.
