Improving water supply in Kinshasa: Regideso presents its actions during a communication panel

Regideso, the water distribution authority in Kinshasa, is implementing initiatives to guarantee access to drinking water for all residents. During a communication panel, officials stressed the importance of social dialogue and regular payment of bills to support water production and distribution. Civic-mindedness and commitment to the company were encouraged by local authorities. Emphasis was placed on the cooperation of the population to improve the quality of public services.
Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is at the heart of a crucial issue: improving water supply. It is in this context that a local communication panel was recently held in Kalamu, a central commune of the city. This event was an opportunity for Regideso, the water distribution authority, to present its objectives and actions to guarantee access to drinking water for all inhabitants of the region.

David Tshilumba, General Manager of Regideso, stressed the importance of social dialogue and proximity with subscribers. He affirmed the company’s desire to fulfill President Félix Tshisekedi’s promise to make water accessible to all Congolese. To this end, Regideso is implementing initiatives such as the connection at USD 50 for 50,000 subscribers, as part of the Kin Elenda project supported by the World Bank.

Furthermore, Jean Bosco Mwaka, Deputy General Manager, stressed the importance of paying water bills regularly to support the production and distribution of drinking water. He particularly highlighted the need for chemicals to treat water and electricity to power the facilities, highlighting the positive impact of paying bills on time on the quality of service provided to subscribers.

The message of civic-mindedness and commitment to Regideso was also relayed by Charly Luboya Makapo, Mayor of the Kalamu commune. He called on the population to support the company in its actions and to fight against fraudulent connections and malicious practices. Emphasis was placed on the importance of paying water bills regularly, highlighting the different payment methods available, including through an online platform.

In short, this communication panel highlighted the efforts made by Regideso to guarantee quality water supply to all residents of Kinshasa. He also stressed the importance of cooperation and commitment of the population to support these initiatives and contribute to the improvement of essential public services.
