It was with sad news that the province of Lomami was shaken in this month of October 2024, with the discovery of the lifeless body of Shadrack Kapuya, a young motorcyclist aged around twenty. His tragic fate sparked emotion and indignation within the local community of Ngandajika.
According to information gathered from civil society, the body of Shadrack Kapuya was found abandoned in the bush, on the side of the road leading to the Mande Intérieur group. The circumstances of his death appear to be the result of an atrocious act of violence, since traces of blood and signs of binding around his neck were noted by the authorities on site.
The young motorcyclist was returning from the town of Mbuji-Mayi, located in the province of Kasai-Oriental, after making purchases for his business. His return to Ngandajika unfortunately turned into a nightmare when he was attacked by malicious individuals in Bakua Lonji, while he was taking a shortcut to Mande Interior. Testimonies from residents indicate a violent assault, followed by the murder of Shadrack, and then being dispossessed of his belongings, including his motorcycle and his goods.
This painful affair mobilized the local authorities who opened an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits of this heinous crime. The safety of road users, especially motorcyclists, is more than ever a major concern in a region where acts of banditry remain a constant threat.
In this time of mourning and consternation, the community of Ngandajika mourns the loss of Shadrack Kapuya, a young man whose life was cut short in an unjust and cruel manner.
