Terror ravages Ahoada East region: new victims of armed cults

In Edeoha Kingdom, located in Ahoada communities, Rivers State, Nigeria, tragic events have once again rocked the area. Suspected cultists, armed and violent, unleashed terror by killing two more persons yesterday, adding to the four victims who died the previous day.

This tale of violence in Ahoada East has rekindled trauma in the community, already reeling from the killing of the town’s immediate past Divisional Police Officer, Bako Anghashim. Recent developments demonstrate that the area remains a hotbed of cult activities and criminality.

Fully armed youths reportedly resumed their reign of terror early yesterday morning, killing two persons at Odiokwu, Ula-Ehuda, Igbu Akoh Kingdom, Ahoada East LGA. Hector Ekakita, the spokesman for Igbu-Akoh Kingdom, confirmed the tragedy, lamenting that the insane acts come barely 20 hours after the killing of five people in Edeoha.

Residents witnessed the suspicious presence of people dressed in camouflage uniforms and military personnel the night before the killings. At daybreak, the gruesome discovery of the lifeless bodies of two youths riddled with bullets plunged the community into fear and anguish.

Hector Ekakita expressed dismay at the escalation of violence and appealed to the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Mustapha, to urgently strengthen security in the area. He stressed that such attacks are spreading terror and death among residents, creating a climate of fear and permanent insecurity.

Residents of the area are in shock, with some even forced to flee to escape the wave of violence. Local authorities are facing a major challenge in restoring order and peace in the region, while bringing under control the criminal groups that have resumed their barbaric acts.

The situation is alarming and requires an immediate and effective response to protect the civilian population. Calls for an end to violence and cult activities are increasing, highlighting the urgency of addressing security and crime prevention issues in depth.

In conclusion, it is imperative to take concrete steps to eradicate the scourge of cults and armed violence in the Ahoada East region. The lives and security of the inhabitants must be guaranteed, and peace must prevail over the terror and death that are plaguing the community.
