Successful Anti-Kidnapping Operation in Abuja: Elimination of a Gang of Notorious Criminals

Anti-kidnapping operations by law enforcement agencies in Abuja and its environs have recently yielded a significant result in the fight against crime. The Federal Capital Territory Police, under the leadership of Commissioner Olatunji Disu, has announced the neutralization of eight members of a notorious kidnapping gang that had been terrorizing the area and neighboring communities in Kaduna and Niger States.

The intervention of the police force proved decisive in the shootouts that occurred during the raid on the kidnappers’ hideouts. Among those eliminated were well-known criminal figures such as Abdulrahman Giwa, Baba Hassan, Mohammed Dahiru, Abubakar Bature alias Dayi, Abubakar Kadiri alias Dare and Kabiru Ibrahim.

Commissioner Olatunji Disu gave details of the pivotal operation, noting that the FCT Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit conducted clearance operations in the kidnappers’ hideouts located deep in Kweri forests in Kaduna State and Gauraka forest in Niger State.

During the operations, the law enforcement agencies arrested suspects involved in various armed robbery and kidnapping attacks on Dei-dei, Bwari, Dawaki communities in the FCT, Daupe, Kau and Sunape villages in Niger.

The individuals apprehended were members of a kidnapping and banditry gang led by one Mallam, now deceased. During the clashes with the law enforcement agencies, Mallam and eight other suspects were neutralized after an intense exchange of gunfire.

This courageous action has not been without consequences, however, with two police officers sustaining serious injuries and currently receiving treatment in hospital. These operations have uncovered information that the gang was holding their hostages in different locations, fueling the anguish and pain of the people of the FCT, Kaduna and Niger.

The tragic events surrounding the kidnappings have come to light, exposing the cruelty of these criminals. For example, Abdulrahman Giwa, a native of Kaduna, has been involved in several kidnapping operations since joining the Mallam gang in 2022. His actions include kidnappings in Jibi and Bwari, resulting in ransoms paid and lives shattered.

These recent police operations have not only neutralized members of a dangerous criminal gang, but have also highlighted the importance of the authorities redoubling their efforts in the fight against crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. These actions aimed at dismantling criminal networks contribute to the preservation of peace and security in the Abuja region and beyond..

In conclusion, the determination of law enforcement to put an end to the activities of criminal gangs is a crucial step towards a safer and more peaceful environment for residents of the region. It is imperative to continue to strengthen security measures and work closely with communities to effectively prevent and combat crime in all its forms.
