The importance of balanced diet to prevent breast cancer and ensure a healthy life

Fatshimetrie, October 20, 2024 – The dynamics of population growth combined with the demands of the urban lifestyle have a significant influence on the eating habits of the inhabitants of Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nutritionist Françoise Meta, as part of the celebration of World Food Day on October 16, emphasizes that these factors must be taken seriously when it comes to promoting a healthy and balanced diet.

Diet plays a crucial role in our health, and it is essential to ensure the consumption of the three main food groups: proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. A balanced diet is the key to staying healthy and reducing the risks of potential diseases linked to poor diet, such as cancer.

Specifically regarding breast cancer, the nutritionist warns against certain harmful eating practices, such as excessive consumption of alcohol, red meat and processed foods. These eating habits can increase the risk of developing breast cancer, highlighting the importance of making healthy food choices to preserve our health.

World Food Day, under the theme “the right to food for a better life and a better future”, is an initiative promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to raise awareness of the importance of food security. This theme highlights the importance of access to a diversified, nutritious and safe diet, to ensure a better quality of life for all.

Ultimately, it is crucial to highlight the impact of eating habits on our health and well-being. Promoting a balanced and diversified diet is an essential pillar to prevent diseases and promote a healthy and fulfilling life for all residents of Kinshasa and beyond.
