The sad news shook the Fatshimetrie editorial team on Saturday, October 19, 2024. The sudden departure of Adrien Vanda, better known by the affectionate nickname “Ady”, plunged the world of Congolese journalism into mourning. Considered one of the pillars of the national press, his immense talent and unwavering commitment have marked several generations of media professionals.

Adrien Vanda’s career is as exceptional as it is diverse. A graduate of ISTI, renamed UNISIC, he began his career working at the Belgian embassy before taking up the position of cultural manager at the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles. His time as director of Télé Kin Malebo (TKM) by Ngongo Luwowo was a major turning point in his career. He then contributed to the growth of Pius Muabilu’s RTGA and collaborated with Kibambi Shintwa at Tropicana/Numerica TV.

But beyond his official duties, Adrien Vanda was also an outstanding trainer, inspiring many young talents of the pen and microphone. His positive influence is still felt today in the Congolese media landscape, where his disciples perpetuate his legacy with passion and dedication.

Today, the Congolese press mourns the loss of a giant who devoted his life to informing, educating and inspiring. His sharp pen and his sharp microphone will remain engraved in the memories of those who were lucky enough to cross his path. Adrien Vanda leaves behind an immense void, but also a precious legacy that will continue to guide future generations on the path to journalistic excellence.

In these moments of sadness and contemplation, let us pay tribute to this illustrious journalist who was able to embody the values of integrity, rigor and passion for his profession. Adrien Vanda, forever in our hearts, will continue to inspire and guide all those who aspire to follow in his footsteps and continue his tireless quest for truth and justice through the pen and the microphone.
