Smooth Transition: Crucial Meeting for the Future of Edo State

The joint meeting of the Transition Committee was held at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin. The meeting marked the official commencement of the transition process between the outgoing administration and the governor-elect’s team. The Chairman of the Transition Committee and Secretary to the Edo State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition process.

On his part, the Chairman of the governor-elect’s team, Monday Okpebholo, Pius Odubu, expressed delight that the state government had embarked on the initiative to ensure a smooth transition. Odubu urged the committee to work diligently to ensure that all documents, whether in hard copy or available digitally, were made available for the incoming administration to commence its duties in the best possible way.

He stressed the importance of transparency and cautioned against any attempt to conceal critical information. “Let us not hide data so that the next government can be fully informed and operational from the beginning,” he said.

Chris Nehikhare, the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, said the main objective of the joint meeting was to facilitate a smooth handover of government responsibilities.

The meeting reflects the authorities’ willingness to be transparent and cooperative in the political transition process. This is a critical juncture where continuity of public policies and good governance must be maintained to ensure the well-being of the citizens of the state.

Finally, it is essential that this transition is transparent and efficient so that Edo State continues to move forward on the path of development and prosperity for all its people.
