At a time when education is more critical than ever to the development of any society, the Ogun State Government in Nigeria is demonstrating its commitment to education by launching a recruitment process to fill 1,000 teaching positions in public schools in the state. The initiative, jointly managed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the State Teaching Service Commission, the State Basic Education Board and the State Technical and Vocational Education Board, is aimed at filling vacancies in primary, secondary and technical schools in the state.
The Ogun Teaching Experience Acquisition Channel (Ogun TEACh) programme is a fitting response to the growing need for qualified education personnel in Ogun State. To apply for these positions, prospective candidates must hold a National Certificate of Education (NCE) or Bachelor of Education (B.A. (Edu)/B.Sc. (Ed)/B.Ed.) with Passable Honours in relevant subjects/subjects. In addition, candidates from fields other than education must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from leading universities. For positions in technical colleges, a Bachelor of Education degree in Technical Education or Engineering is required.
Interested candidates are invited to apply through the Ogun State Employment Portal at www.teach.ogunstate.gov.ng from Wednesday, October 16 to Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The 1,000 successful candidates, known as TEACh trainees, will be deployed to areas where their service is most needed and will be paid a monthly stipend for two years. At the end of this period, they will be assessed on criteria such as their expertise, commitment, punctuality, respect for constituted authority, and willingness to work wherever they are posted.
It is noteworthy that this recruitment wave comes as a culmination of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s promise to recruit a total of 5,000 TEACh interns. The first 4,000 interns who were given permanent positions are now working as full-time teachers in public schools in the state. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Ogun government to youth education and employment, thereby ensuring a better future for the entire population.
