“The Ministry of Works, located in Mabushi, Abuja, was the scene of a serious incident last Friday when a fire broke out in its premises. The cause of the incident was identified as a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor. Fortunately, the prompt intervention of emergency teams ensured that the fire was quickly contained, limiting the damage to property.
The Director of Communication and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed, confirmed the incident, saying: ‘A minor fire broke out at 11:30am at Block A of the Ministry. The fire was caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker in the electrical control room on the ground floor.’
Mr. Kekai Bekebi, the Fire Brigade Commander of the Ministry of Public Works, acted quickly to contain the situation by deploying fire extinguishers. He also coordinated the safe evacuation of staff. The Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, stressed that no documents were lost, no injuries were reported and no deaths were recorded. He commended the exemplary response of staff during the incident.
Business has resumed as normal, with maintenance teams busy clearing debris and restoring order to the premises.”
