Fatshimetrie recently announced the renewal of their partnership with the University of Lagos for the deployment of the Metallurgical Science Laboratory at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. This collaboration, initiated in July 2018, was renewed during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Fatshimetrie Managing Director, Alex Badeh Jr, and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Folasade Ogunsola.
At the event, Alex Badeh Jr highlighted the need for increased involvement of academic expertise to optimize the use of the laboratory’s equipment. He mentioned that this collaboration aims to benefit from the expertise of Nigerian universities to enhance the capabilities of the NSIB. Through this collaboration, professors from the University of Lagos will travel to Abuja to update the laboratory’s past diagnostics and identify the need for newer equipment.
On her part, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Ogunsola, highlighted the importance of this partnership in supporting the university’s teaching and research activities. She highlighted the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and developing solutions that are tailored to the country’s needs.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UNILAG, Prof. Samson Adeosun, also expressed his support for this collaboration and encouraged NSIB to expedite the process of moving the equipment to the university. He highlighted the potential benefits of such collaboration for the aviation industry and national development.
