Fatshimétrie, October 17, 2024 – The Kisanganiot capital was the scene of a major event this Thursday, when a conference-debate was organized by the coordination of the Jean Bamanisa Saidi dynamic. On the occasion of World Food Day, the participants launched an urgent appeal to state authorities to become fully aware of the crucial importance of food for the population.
The coordinator of the dynamic, Mr. Jean-Divin Tawamba, underlined the urgency of the situation by declaring: “We must sound the alarm and raise awareness throughout society on the responsibility that falls on our leaders in terms of food. This is a vital issue and it must be an absolute priority.”
This year’s theme, “Another way of eating”, perfectly illustrates the need to rethink our eating habits to guarantee a better future. Indeed, the quality of our food determines our health and well-being. Jean-Divin Tawamba stressed the close link between food and health, emphasizing that disease prevention requires, above all, a healthy and balanced diet.
To solve food-related problems, the dynamic Jean Bamanisa Saidi plans to provide concrete support to local farmers. “We will work to support farmers by providing them with the tools and seeds needed to improve their yields,” announced Mr. Tawamba. This support is of paramount importance to guarantee food security in the region and help fight famine.
During the conference, the provincial inspector of agriculture and security, Christophe Bokana, highlighted the multiple factors that contribute to the food crisis, such as conflicts, the socio-economic crisis, climatic hazards and problems related to agriculture. He called for concerted action to find sustainable solutions to these fundamental issues.
On this World Food Day, these discussions and reflections highlight the urgent need to act to guarantee everyone access to quality food. The authorities are called upon to take concrete and sustainable measures to meet the essential needs of the population in terms of nutrition and health. The dynamic launched by Jean Bamanisa Saidi offers hope for change and invites everyone to commit to a healthier and more equitable future.
