Installation of the Standing Committees of the National Assembly in the DRC: Towards a New Parliamentary Dynamic

The installation of the standing committees of the National Assembly in the Democratic Republic of Congo marks a crucial step in the parliamentary life of the country. Supervised by Isaac Jean Claude Tshilumbayi Musawu, 1st Vice-President of the institution, this approach aims to organize the work of deputies within different thematic committees, responsible for studying in depth economic, political, legal, social, and many other issues.

The Economic, Financial and Budgetary Control Committee (Ecofin), headed by MP Guy Mafuta Kabongo, is particularly important in this budgetary period. Its role is crucial in ensuring the implementation of the necessary means for government policy, in order to meet the essential needs of the State. The determination of the members of this committee is essential to achieve the objectives set and guarantee the good management of the country’s financial resources.

The Political, Administrative and Legal Committee (PAJ), under the leadership of André Mbata, also has a major role to play in the current context. Responsible for dealing with legislative and administrative issues, this committee is at the heart of the country’s political issues, particularly in a context of crises and security challenges. The presence of MP Prince Cocola, representing André Mbata, underlines the importance of these missions and the need for a rigorous and professional approach.

Finally, the Human Rights Committee, chaired by Boris Mbuku Laka, represents an essential pillar in the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights. Faced with the challenges that arise in terms of respect for human rights, this committee must act with determination and vigilance to defend individual freedoms and guarantee fairness and justice for all.

The work of the standing committees of the National Assembly is therefore crucial for the proper functioning of the parliamentary institution and to respond to the current challenges facing the country. Through a professional, determined and committed approach, the members of these committees are called upon to play a key role in the process of developing public policies and monitoring government action.

In a complex and demanding context, the establishment of these standing committees reflects the authorities’ desire to strengthen the efficiency and transparency of parliamentary institutions, and to contribute to building a solid democracy that respects the rights of all citizens.
