The annual breast cancer awareness campaign is in full swing this Pink October. Under the theme “Together for Pink October”, the Vodacom Foundation is committed to fighting this disease that affects many women around the world.
In partnership with the HJ hospital, the Vodacom Foundation has set up free screening sessions for 500 women in Kinshasa. This initiative aims not only to encourage early detection, but also to raise awareness about the risk factors and methods of preventing breast cancer.
The free screening includes mammograms and medical consultations, thus offering selected women the opportunity to take care of their health at no cost. This approach is part of a desire to fight against a disease that is a major public health issue.
Agnès MUADI, Director of Human Resources at Vodacom Congo and administrator of the Vodacom Foundation, highlights the importance of early detection that can save lives. By encouraging women to join this cause, the Vodacom Foundation aims to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
The Vodacom Foundation, an autonomous non-profit association, is involved in social actions in key areas such as education, health and inclusion for all. Its flagship project “Les 12 élans de cœur” aims to improve living conditions through social activities carried out over twelve months, highlighting the use of technology for the social well-being of the Congolese people.
Among the many initiatives of the Vodacom Foundation, there are programs such as “Alerte rouge” to meet the needs of displaced people, “JE SUIS CAP” for the empowerment of women living with disabilities, scholarships for primary school students, digital classes in collaboration with local schools, as well as free information portals such as VODAEDUC, CONNECTU and Mum & Baby.
During this period of Pink October, the Vodacom Foundation is positioning itself as a key player in raising awareness and preventing breast cancer, through its concrete and committed actions in favor of women’s health. Together, let’s make a difference in the fight against this disease and encourage all women to take care of their health by getting screened regularly.
