Fatshimetrie, the new performance management system launched by the Ministry of Finance and the Minister of Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, is aimed at improving staff efficiency and ensuring effective management of the nation’s finances. The launch, which took place yesterday in Abuja, is part of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, introduced by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to advance civil service reforms.
According to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Mohammed Manga, the performance management system is aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and efficiency in the management of public funds to support Nigeria’s development priorities.
Minister Edun stressed that the implementation of the system is crucial to achieving national development goals, adding that “the public service plays a vital role in the delivery of government policies, and an effective Performance Management System is critical to boosting productivity.”
He also declared “Performance Management System Day,” declaring that every Thursday will be dedicated to PMS activities in the Ministry of Finance.
“Let us embrace a culture of excellence, efficiency and productivity to serve the nation at the highest level and make Nigeria proud,” Edun urged the staff of the ministry.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, stressed the importance of the PMS in aligning the ministry’s objectives with broader public service reforms.
“The Performance Management System will help us track progress, identify areas for improvement and make informed decisions,” she said, marking the launch as a key milestone in the ministry’s quest for excellence.
