In an effort to improve the socio-professional conditions of teachers and consolidate the quality of education in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Minister of National Education and New Citizenship, Raïssa Malu Dinanga, took decisive action by meeting with the President of the National Assembly, Vital Kamerhe.
During this meeting, held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Raïssa Malu stressed the importance of listening and the essential role of the National Assembly in guiding public policies for the development of the country. She presented her Ministry’s five-year plan 2024-2029, focused on improving the quality of education, equity, inclusion and modernizing the education system through new technologies.
Based on this plan, the Minister of State advocated for better teacher remuneration and highlighted the need to strengthen the administration and digitalization of the education sub-sector. The aim is to ensure more effective governance and meet the country’s educational challenges.
Vital Kamerhe was receptive and promised his involvement in the development of the 2025 budget, involving stakeholders, including trade unionists. He also provided guidance on the quality of education, inclusion and the concept of New Citizenship, in particular supporting the idea of the “Citizen’s Oath”.
This meeting laid the foundations for close collaboration between the Ministry of National Education and New Citizenship and the National Assembly to jointly address the country’s educational challenges. Raïssa Malu expressed her gratitude to Vital Kamerhe for his listening and support, stressing that improving teachers’ conditions is a government priority.
This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Congolese authorities to education and underlines the importance of consultation and cooperation between the different institutions to ensure a quality and inclusive education system.
