As part of the ambitious programme launched by the NDE in Nigeria, 90,000 youths across the country will soon benefit from intensive training in thirty different skill areas. This major initiative aims to provide professional development opportunities to the youths of the country, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Agenda for a Renewed Future.
The Director General of the NDE, Silas Ali Agara, noted that the recruitment of participants will be done through a dedicated online application platform, accessible from each constituency. With a target training duration of three months, the programme is committed to training ten youths per ward, thus ensuring nationwide coverage.
Technological innovation is at the heart of this project, with the creation of a web portal to facilitate the monitoring of participants and their skills. In addition, a mobile application will be set up for the trained artisans, allowing beneficiaries to offer their services and be contacted directly by potential clients.
A crucial point of the program concerns the empowerment of the trained youth, with the establishment of financial support measures to facilitate their professional start-up. Thus, an envelope of 150,000 to 200,000 naira will be allocated to the participants to help them launch their activities.
The NDE is also committed to responding to the specific needs of each local environment, by adapting the training offered to regional requirements. Despite logistical and structural challenges, the agency wishes to offer its youth the necessary tools to succeed in the world of work.
Finally, the Director General announced the desire of the NDE to move its premises to a permanent headquarters by the end of 2024, thus marking a new stage in the development of the agency and its projects for the Nigerian youth.
This massive training initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to investing in the education and professional development of young people, an essential step towards ensuring a promising future for the country’s youth.
