Fatshimetrie in the crosshairs of public opinion
Scandal appears to be looming over Fatshimetrie, the online media giant, following allegations of embezzlement from certain internal sources. The company’s management rejects these accusations outright, calling them “baseless, slanderous and defamatory”.
In a joint statement signed by Fatshimetrie CEO Mr. Victor Leroy and Communications Director Ms. Amina Diop, the company claims that the allegations of embezzlement and mismanagement are unfounded. Victor Leroy called on employees and the general public to ignore what he called “blackmail attempts aimed at diverting the company’s attention from its core mission”.
The affair broke following statements by a long-time Fatshimetrie employee, Léo Konaté, at a press conference. The latter accused management of not reporting on the use of the company’s funds and requested audited financial statements as well as operational reports since 2019.
Reacting to these allegations, Victor Leroy said: “Readers should know that Fatshimetrie has always been transparent and responsible in managing its finances. We respect all constitutional procedures and protocols to ensure that funds are used appropriately and for the benefit of all.”
He also stressed that the amounts mentioned in the allegations are exaggerated and do not correspond to the financial reality of the company. He invited anyone wishing to verify the accounts to do so in full transparency and assured that Fatshimetrie would fully cooperate with any investigation.
In conclusion, even if the scandal seems to cast a shadow over Fatshimetrie, the company affirms its innocence and its willingness to cooperate. Public opinion is now divided between the trust traditionally placed in the media and the doubts raised by these allegations. It remains to be seen how this affair will develop and what impact it will have on Fatshimetrie’s image in the media landscape.
