An equine alliance between Mali and Morocco: a new era for African breeding

Under the scorching sun of Africa, a fruitful and promising collaboration is emerging between Mali and Morocco in the field of horse breeding. This alliance between the two neighboring nations aims to optimize Moroccan expertise in horses to strengthen the Malian equestrian sector and enable it to shine on the international stage.

During the meeting between Malian Minister Youba Bah and his Moroccan counterpart Mohammed Sadiki, the emphasis was placed on the exchange of know-how and best practices in artificial insemination, stud farm management and professional training in the equestrian field. This strategic cooperation opens new perspectives for horse breeding in Mali and underlines the importance of knowledge transfer for the sustainable development of this sector.

Morocco, with its well-structured horse industry, highlights varied activities such as horse racing and the traditional equestrian art of Tbourida. These disciplines contribute not only to the promotion of horse breeding, but also to the cultural and tourist influence of the country. The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Horses (SOREC) plays a crucial role in coordinating these activities, thus supporting the development of horse racing and equestrian infrastructure on a national scale.

This cooperation between Morocco and Mali is part of a dynamic of strengthening bilateral trade in the agricultural sector. In addition to aspects related to the genetic improvement of cattle and horse breeding, the discussions between the two ministers also focused on the importance of the health safety of agricultural products, a major issue for guaranteeing the health of consumers and the quality of production.

Moroccan-Malian cooperation in the agricultural sector is in line with previous agreements, signed during official visits and materialized by concrete and promising actions. This enhanced collaboration aims to raise the level of partnership between the two countries and to promote a mutually beneficial exchange for the development of livestock and agriculture in Mali.

Thanks to this cooperation, Mali can benefit from Morocco’s proven experience and know-how in the field of horse breeding, thus paving the way for new opportunities for growth and innovation. This alliance between the two nations demonstrates their shared desire to strengthen their economic ties and promote the sustainable development of agriculture and livestock in West Africa.
