Fatshimetrie, October 12, 2024 – The urban planning and housing sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo was the focus of attention during the recent visit of the provincial Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, Fisheries, Livestock, Urban Planning and Housing, Fiston Lubaki, to Matadi. This visit, which is part of an approach of proximity and knowledge of the realities on the ground, allowed the Minister and his delegation to learn about the working conditions of the provincial housing and urban planning services.
The objective of this visit was not only to demonstrate the government’s support for these services, but also to strengthen collaboration and synergy between the Minister’s office and the various attached services. Indeed, Minister Fiston Lubaki stressed the importance of working hand in hand to meet the challenges facing the sector.
Accompanied by his chief of staff, his advisors and the heads of the urban planning and housing offices, the Minister was able to discuss with the agents their missions, their constraints and their needs. This field approach highlighted the efforts made by these services despite the limited resources to which they have access.
The Minister’s visit was welcomed positively by all the services visited, who expressed their gratitude for this mark of consideration and listening on the part of the provincial authorities. The agents also expressed their willingness to work closely with the Minister’s office to improve working conditions and strengthen the efficiency of the services.
In conclusion, Minister Fiston Lubaki committed to continuing this dynamic of collaboration and to working towards a more efficient urban planning and housing sector that better serves the population. This visit thus marks the beginning of a new era of concerted work and development in the sector, and demonstrates the willingness of the provincial authorities to work towards improving the living conditions of citizens through effective and transparent management of urban planning and housing issues.
