Morocco reaffirms its firm position against the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU

Kinshasa, October 10, 2024 (ACP/MAP). – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad recently expressed its position regarding the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning agricultural and fisheries agreements. According to information reported by MAP, Morocco does not consider itself to be directly affected by this decision, which pits the European Union against the “polisario” supported by Algeria.

Mr. Nasser Bourita, spokesperson for the ministry, stressed that Morocco did not take part in this case and was not involved in it. He stressed that the Kingdom does not feel concerned by the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU, affirming that Morocco was not a party to any stage of this procedure.

The ministry’s press release emphasizes that Morocco considers that the decision of the Court of Justice contains obvious legal errors as well as suspicious facts. It points to a possible lack of understanding of the realities surrounding the case, or even an obvious political bias. In addition, the press release notes that the Court of Justice has allowed itself to contradict the positions of the competent UN bodies, demonstrating a lack of discernment and impartiality.

In its demands, Morocco calls on the Council, the European Commission and the EU Member States to take the necessary measures to respect their international commitments, preserve the achievements of the partnership, and grant the Kingdom legitimate legal certainty as an EU partner on strategic issues.

In conclusion, Morocco reaffirms its firm position not to accept agreements or legal instruments that call into question its territorial integrity and national unity. This statement underlines Morocco’s commitment to its principles and sovereignty, as well as its desire to ensure that its rights and interests are respected in the context of its international relations.

In a complex geopolitical environment, marked by regional and international issues, Morocco’s position highlights its determination to defend its interests and ensure that its status as a strategic partner of the EU is respected. This statement also shows Morocco’s desire to preserve its place on the international scene and to defend its interests with vigor and determination. ACP/C.L.
