A significant shift is coming to the workings of the global religious institution following revisions to its operational manual, The Mandate. The changes now set the retirement age at 55 for church leaders, ushering in a new era of leadership in the internationally renowned ministry.
Respected and iconic figures Bishop Abioye, who has served as Bishop Oyedepo’s right-hand man for over 40 years, and Bishop Aremu, who has served in the role for over 30 years, will retire this month. However, the retirement age policy, except for the founder himself, Bishop Oyedepo, who is allowed to serve indefinitely.
Through this groundbreaking update, the church affirms its commitment to a structured leadership transition. The revised policy is aimed at ensuring the continued growth of the ministry under the guidance of new and dynamic leaders.
The new organizational structure defines that future leaders may serve for one or two terms of seven years, subject to the approval of the church’s governing council.
In addition, formal departure ceremonies have been planned: Bishop Aremu’s farewell ceremony will take place at LFC Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday, October 15, while Bishop Abioye’s will take place at Living Faith Church in Durumi, Abuja on Friday, October 18.
