Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi recently highlighted his administration’s achievements in road infrastructure in the 13 Local Government Areas of the state. He stressed his administration’s commitment to meeting the needs of the people through the People’s Needs Charter.
Emphasis was placed on expanding road infrastructure to rural areas to boost the local economy. Indeed, over 700 kilometres of roads have been worked on in the state, with some projects already completed and others under construction.
Some of the roads mentioned include Ishielu Water Scheme Road, Nnorom and Udude-Ukwuakpu Streets, Emefor and Alo Street Link, Ebonyi State University Internal Road Paving, Mile 50 New Layout-Abakaliki Dual Carriageway, and Ebonyi Agro Traders Market, among others.
The governor also focused on human capital development through the promotion of vocational and technical education, as well as the welfare of the people through skills acquisition programmes and financial support for entrepreneurship. Initiatives such as the empowerment of 500 persons with N2 million each and the granting of N1 million to 1,500 youths in Ebonyi are in place to support the youths and women in the state.
In a message of goodwill, former governor Sam Egwu commended the achievements of Governor Nwifuru and encouraged him to continue his efforts for the welfare of the state. He stressed the importance of having a leader of integrity and commitment to ensure prosperity and peace in the society.
