Call for exemplary leadership: Nigerian youth sound alarm for urgent change

The call by the Nigerian youth group for exemplary leadership to reduce anger and hunger in the country highlights a deep-rooted problem in today’s society. Indeed, the general observation is alarming: growing frustration, simmering anger and unfulfilled dreams are weighing heavily on the population. These negative sentiments are fueled by poor governance and broken promises, thus highlighting the urgent need for meaningful change at the level of the ruling class.

The youth, represented by leaders such as the CEO of Aprilcentaur Network, Abuah Martins, are the voices of a generation in search of justice and equality. They demand from political leaders a sincere commitment to their people, emphasizing the crucial importance of exemplarity in the conduct of public affairs. This demand for transparency and accountability comes as a cry of hope amidst the disappointments and disillusionments that plague society.

At a press conference held at the University of Ibadan, ahead of the launch of an anthology titled ‘All the Colours of Madness’, several voices were raised to denounce the ills plaguing the nation. Publisher of Emotion Press, Folarin Olaniyi, stressed the need for political renewal, where the youth can finally express their vision and aspirations. Co-author of the anthology, Odion-Osigwe Emike, highlighted a phenomenon of generational anger that cuts across all sectors of society, pointing to a system that is in the grip of decadence.

There is no denying that the expression of anger through artistic channels such as writing can be a powerful lever for change. By giving voice to frustrations and shattered hopes, the young authors in the anthology offer a way out for a generation in search of meaning and justice. Their initiative embodies a call to action, an invitation to rethink and rebuild together a more just and equitable society.

Ultimately, the anger and hunger brewing at the heart of the nation reflect a deep malaise that cannot be ignored. It is time for leaders to demonstrate the courage and integrity to meet the legitimate expectations of their people. The call of young Nigerians resonates as a cry of alarm, a call to collective action to build a better future for all.
