Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day: Unity and Resilience Key to a Prosperous Future

As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, various political figures, state governors, labour organisations and political parties have extended their best wishes to Nigerians while calling for national unity to address the current challenges facing the country.

In a hopeful message, former President Goodluck Jonathan urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and resilient and never lose hope in the dream of building a great and prosperous nation despite the current challenges. He highlighted the economic gains made by the country while acknowledging the persistent challenges of security, economic growth, national cohesion and infrastructure development.

On his part, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar commended Nigerians for their indomitable spirit and urged them to unite against all forms of authoritarianism. He reiterated the importance of protecting democracy in the face of threats and highlighted the crucial role of honest politicians and statesmen in this fight.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda called on Nigerians to embrace patriotism and unity, stressing that the strength of the nation lies in its diversity and in the pursuit of our common dream of a prosperous and peaceful future. He urged his compatriots to remain united, despite political, religious and ethnic differences, to ensure a better future for all.

Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori also urged Nigerians to work together to overcome the economic and security challenges facing the country. He stressed the importance of supporting government efforts to address these challenges and called for patience and faith in this critical period.

Finally, Senator Barau Jibril appealed for resolve and promotion of national unity, while encouraging Nigerians to support and pray for the government to succeed in positively redressing the destiny of the nation.

On this memorable day, marking a new chapter in Nigeria’s history, unity, resilience and solidarity emerge as the essential levers to build a prosperous and promising future for all Nigerians. In the face of current challenges, it is together that the people can overcome obstacles and chart a course towards a better and brighter future.
